Brookfield, Massachusetts A customer helped thwart a robbery at a convenience store on Route 9 by throwing a hot cup of coffee at one of the suspects.
The attempted hold-up happened around 6 a.m. Monday morning at the Cumberland Farms at 225 Main Street.
Two men entered the store wearing clear Halloween masks and demanded money, police said.
A customer inside the store helped the clerk by throwing a cup of hot coffee at one of the would-be robbers.
The two men fled the area on foot and no arrests have been made.
Two other Cumberland Farms were hit in the area, one in Amherst on Monday morning and another in Brimfield Thursday. Police believe that these robberies could be connected.
